25th anniversary conference of NIERSC, St.Petersburg

The 25th anniversary of the Nansen International Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NIERSC) in ST. Petersburg is celebrated with a two day scientific conference at St. Petersburg State University and NIERSC premises. Program will be uploaded later.

Summer school: The Arctic Ocean and the marginal ice zone (MIZ)

An interdisciplinary PhD and Post-Doc summer school on The Arctic Ocean and the Marginal Ice Zone (MIZ) is oranized for 26 international students in Longyearbyen, Svalbard

The summer school is hosted by the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research (NVP), in cooperation with the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), UiT – the Arctic University of Norway, the Nord University, the Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI), Akvaplan-niva, the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC), and the Russian Geographical Society (RGS).

Summer School: “Crash Course on Data Assimilation - Theoretical foundations and advanced applications with focus on ensemble methods”

The 4-days school aims at PhD-level students and early stage scientists with beginner or no notions of data assimilation intending to apply data assimilation as part of their research. The crash course will cover the basic notions of data assimilation, focusing on ensemble methods, illustrated with real-scale / operational applications and with the aid of practical exercises.

The event is organised in the framework of the Nordic Countries Centre of Excellence EmblA (https://embla.nersc.no/).

SWARP User Workshop

28. September 2016 - 9:00

NERSC is hosting a two-days training workshop in the framework of the European SWARP project, on waves and ice forecasting in the Marginal Ice Zone.

Deadline for registration: Friday 16th Sept.

The workshop is free and open to current and future users of operational sea ice and wave forecast services with a particular interest in navigation close to the ice edge or into the Marginal Ice Zone.

MyOcean Training Workshop

19. March 2015 - 9:00

NERSC is hosting a two-days training workshop in the framework of MyOcean - Follow On, on operational oceanography data & products covering the Global Oceans and Arctic Ocean.

Deadline for registration: Friday 13th March.

The workshop is free and open to current and future users of the MyOcean service who have a general interest in ocean products for the Global Ocean and the Arctic (either as service providers or end users, for research or business purposes).

Research School: The Arctic Ocean: atmosphere, ice and ocean interactions – implications for future climate and human activities

An interdisciplinary PhD and Post-Doc international winter school on The Arctic Ocean: atmosphere, ice and ocean interactions – implications for future climate and human activities is hosted at the Indian National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (ESSO-NCAOR) in Goa, India during 28th October – 2nd November 2018.

The Research school is organized in cooperation between the NCAOR, Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center and Nansen Scientific Society in Norway and Nansen Environmental Research Centre-India.
